Study Boxes

Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 May 2026

These terms apply to Study Boxes, a direct-download macOS app for organising study setups, resources, tasks, reminders, sessions, and optional focus controls. By downloading, buying, activating, or using Study Boxes, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Who provides Study Boxes

Study Boxes is provided as an independent direct-download macOS app. For support or legal questions, contact support@studyboxes.app. If a formal postal contact route is required for a consumer or legal request, email us and we will provide the appropriate details.

2. What Study Boxes does

Study Boxes helps you create saved study setups for courses, exams, assignments, language routines, coding projects, and similar work. A Study Box can contain resources, tasks, notes, reminders, session settings, and optional focus behaviour. The app is designed to be menu-bar-first, with the Library used mainly for setup.

3. Free and Pro plans

  • Free: includes one Study Box and the free features shown in the app or on the website.
  • Pro: unlocks paid features such as unlimited boxes, unlimited resources, templates, focus modes, window restore, optional desktop Spaces setup, import, calendar-related features, and advanced history where available.
  • Launch lifetime license: means a one-time license for the paid version of Study Boxes as described at checkout. It is not a subscription unless the checkout page clearly says otherwise.
  • Activations: Pro may be limited to the number of Mac activations shown at checkout or in the app.

Feature names and limits may change as the product develops, but paid users will not be intentionally downgraded from the core Pro access they bought without a lawful reason.

4. License to use the app

Study Boxes is licensed, not sold. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app for your own study, productivity, or educational work. You may not copy, resell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer, modify, or redistribute Study Boxes except where the law gives you a right to do so.

5. Purchases, payments, taxes, and license keys

Purchases are handled through an external checkout and licensing provider. The provider may process payment, tax, invoice, refund, fraud-prevention, and license information under its own checkout terms and policies. Prices, taxes, currencies, and any available discounts are shown at checkout before you pay.

Keep your license key private. You are responsible for activity under your license key. If your key is lost, leaked, abused, or used beyond the permitted activations, access may be limited, reset, or deactivated where reasonable.

6. EU and UK consumer rights

If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or another place with mandatory consumer protection laws, nothing in these terms limits the rights you cannot legally waive. Digital content and digital services may give you rights to repair, replacement, price reduction, termination, or refund if they are not supplied or are faulty, depending on the law that applies.

For online purchases, consumers may have a 14-day withdrawal right. For digital content or services supplied immediately, this right may be lost if you expressly agree to immediate supply and acknowledge that you lose the withdrawal right. The exact withdrawal and refund information shown during checkout applies to your purchase.

7. Refunds

We offer a 14-day refund policy for paid Study Boxes Pro purchases. If you bought by mistake, cannot activate your license, or the app does not work as described, contact support within 14 days of purchase with your order email and a short explanation. Refund handling also follows the checkout terms, payment-provider policies, and any mandatory consumer law that gives you stronger rights.

8. System requirements and permissions

Study Boxes is a macOS app and may require a minimum macOS version shown on the website, download page, or release notes. Some features require macOS permissions. Accessibility permission is needed for features that affect other apps, such as hiding apps, quitting apps, moving windows, restoring window frames, Strict Focus, and optional desktop Spaces setup. Basic boxes, tasks, notes, resources, and timers can work without these app-affecting permissions.

9. Focus modes and workspace restore

Focus and restore features use macOS APIs and depend on permissions, other apps, display setup, Spaces, full-screen windows, minimized windows, and operating system behaviour. They are best-effort features and may not work perfectly in every app or setup.

Study Boxes does not force-quit system-critical apps. When a focus mode affects other apps, Study Boxes aims to restore only apps it affected. Browser windows may be opened or restored as app windows, but individual browser tabs are not inspected, managed, or restored.

10. Your responsibilities

  • Use Study Boxes lawfully and responsibly.
  • Keep backups of important study data, files, notes, and assignments.
  • Check important deadlines yourself; reminders and calendar features can fail or be delayed.
  • Do not use Study Boxes to interfere with someone else's computer, accounts, data, or work.
  • Do not share license keys publicly or try to bypass license limits.

11. Updates and availability

Study Boxes may receive bug fixes, compatibility updates, and feature updates. Updates are not guaranteed forever and may depend on macOS changes, development capacity, and commercial viability. Some features may be changed, renamed, limited, or removed if needed for security, reliability, legal compliance, platform changes, or product quality.

12. Third-party services and resources

Study Boxes can open websites, files, folders, apps, repositories, documents, calendars, and other resources that you add. Those resources are controlled by you or third parties, not by Study Boxes. Third-party services may have their own terms, privacy policies, fees, outages, and account requirements.

13. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how Study Boxes handles personal data, local app data, license information, optional diagnostics, and support requests. Read it here: Privacy Policy.

14. Disclaimers

Study Boxes is provided with reasonable care, but it is not a substitute for your own planning, backups, deadline tracking, or academic responsibility. To the extent allowed by law, Study Boxes is provided without guarantees that every feature will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every app, or suitable for every particular purpose.

15. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or consumer rights that cannot be waived. To the extent allowed by law, Study Boxes is not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, lost data, missed deadlines, academic outcomes, or problems caused by third-party apps, websites, operating system changes, permissions, or user configuration.

16. Termination

You can stop using Study Boxes at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to paid features if a license key is fraudulent, refunded, shared beyond allowed activations, abused, or used in a way that materially breaches these terms. Where reasonable, we will try to give notice or a chance to fix the issue.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence. If you are a consumer, you may have the right to bring claims in your local courts. If you are using Study Boxes for business or professional purposes, disputes will be handled by the competent courts of Spain unless a mandatory law says otherwise.

18. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as Study Boxes changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date. If a change materially affects paid access, we will take reasonable steps to make the change clear.
